Rotary Club of Ilkley with the Inner Wheel of Ilkley
The Rotary & Inner Wheel Clubs of Ilkley held their annual Children in Need Coffee Morning raising over £400. This great community event for Burley in Wharfedale is appreciated by local residents. This year The President Glynne Edwards & his Wife Yvonne also worked with Burley & Woodhead school in the village through Mrs Lister & they sold a whopping £225 of Pudsey bears and ears. Mrs Lister organised the selling & thanked the club for thinking about them and said the children were very excited. More large bears were auctioned at The Rotary Business Quiz night. Rotary friends Tesco Ilkley supplied the coffee, tea & biscuits. Katie Smith, Inner Wheel Treasurer, brought hot milk especially for past President David Shaw after his request last year, which will never be forgotten by all concerned! Rotary Clubs of Machynlleth & Oswestry
The Rotary Clubs of Machynlleth & Oswestry helped to collect at the end of day 2 and 3 of the Rickshaw challenge when it stopped in their respective towns. Rotary Club of Matlock
The Rotary club of Matlock were asked if they could help with collections for the Children in need Rickshaw Challenge as it came to Matlock Bath on Tuesday 12th November at 6.15pm. They were happy to respond to such a good cause and were lucky with the weather as it remained dry after all the rain. They raised an impressive £820.71 for Children in Need. They have a good relationship with their local Metro Bank, where a Giant Pudsey teddy raffle took place. Rotary Club of Crowthorne & Sandhurst The Rotary Club of Crowthorne & Sandhurst started with an early morning collection at Crowthorne Station, followed by collections on Crowthorne High Street and then a collection round the pubs and restaurants of Crowthorne & Sandhurst. As they were collecting outside a local supermarket a lovely Slimming World Leader offered to put a bucket on her desk at the next meeting and this boosted the total by £25. Carfest 2019
Rotary sent volunteers along to the Car and Music festivals set up by Chris Evans in aid of Children in Need.
Each Rotarian was tasked with selling raffle tickets - this year there were some amazing prizes! Over £56,000 was raised by the raffle over the two events, one at Bolesworth Castle, Cheshire, the other at Laverstoke Park Farm, Hampshire. The picture on the right is from Carfest South 2019.
